The staff at the Last Patrol would like to thank everyone for taking time out of their day to learn about our company and the project. Also, to thank you for any support that you are able to pass on that will move us closer to achieving our goal.
The Last Patrol is an Ohio non-profit organization that is operating solely under a 501(c)(3) tax status. The group was founded with the mission to teach and preserve our country’s military history by preserving equipment and artifacts of our military. Sharing the stories of our country’s ongoing pursuit of peace and freedom. We will display our history from the home front to the war front. Since our conception we have added a second mission, which is the direct support of our nation’s various youth groups.
The Museum currently has two vessels. The retired USCG Motor Lifeboat (MLB) 44334 which is currently under restoration and the retired USCG Motor Surf Boat (MSB) 26517 which is used for training purposes.
The training the Museum offers allows new generations of young mariners and others to learn about seamanship/boat handling, navigation, marine engineering, and other maritime related topics, as well as leadership and teamwork.
Former and retired military and civilian professionals volunteer to serve as mentors aboard the training vessels allowing them to relive memories of their service while sharing their skills and experiences with the young people from public schools, charter schools, private schools, colleges, and youth groups as well as others of all ages who participate in our training program designed for participants to gain a better understanding of how we were able to achieve our freedom, while also realizing the high costs of protecting that liberty.
Since July of 2017 to present day the Last Patrol and our staff have been lucky enough to have trained hundreds of our nation’s youths. We have provided both water-based training as well as land-based training involving two different vessels. We have also supported these youths in parades and public events with our boats, trucks and other equipment across Ohio and parts of West Virginia. Logging almost 25000 miles in our efforts to help and teach young people.
Our 44’ Motor Life Boat, is able to support 1000 people per year in training, public events, and to assist the USCG in training their personnel. An example of this training is using the vessels for towing drills and boarding/search drills with the USCG. 44’MLB has been undergoing a full restoration since 2020. The 44’MLB will then be able to be used for more extensive training in the S.T.E.M. fields as well as continued training in the maritime fields. The completion of this restoration is key to our mission.
